Ippity, Soccer and a "Tasty Treat"

A few things to share today...first off is my creation for this week's Ippity hop using paper piecing & Sahara Sand cardstock, which I am falling in love with for the summer, followed by some personal things...Soccer class and making a tasty lunch with Liam. Have a fabulous week!

Supplies
Stamps: Music of my Heart, Now and Always (all ippity)
Ink: Little Sprout, Bamboo, Bahama Blue, Black
Paper: Sahara Sand, Mediterranean Cafe (DCWV), Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss
Accessories: Button, Linen Thread, Sewing Machine, Various Border Punches

Liam's (3 yo) soccer class from Saturday. He adores Coach Matt and the games he gets to play. He is the second from the left with his arms up. So cute!

If anyone has tots who watch Playhouse Disney you know about "Tasty Treats w/ZeFronk". It's a super short show with  Chef ZeFronk, and he shows the kids how to make healthy foods with their parents. I decided that Liam and I would make tuna salad. My recipe isn't from the show, but a combination of a recipe I learned while living in Northern Ireland and some ideas from Mitch's Aunt Dee.(tuna, cream cheese, celery, garlic, cracked black pepper, pinch of salt, dried cranberries on toast with provolone and sliced cucumbers...nom!) Liam helped me add the ingredients, mix it up and plate it. He LOVED it! If you don't already, get your children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews, etc. in the kitchen with you!

Lastly, two of the most important guys in my life at a family reunion today. Father and son...ahhhhh.

FWF It's Butterfly Day

Good morning/afternoon/evening! A couple of cards (hoping to do one with Bevy of Butterflies this morning) to share with you today. I have been hooked on one layer cards lately, so here is at least one more to add to the pile. Easy to mail though...can't complain about that!

Also, I will be trying to participate in the upcoming weeks Ippity and Unity hops, but my due date is quickly approaching, so if there is no post you can easily assume where I will be. ;)

Have a fabulous day filled with beautiful weather and the glory of God's creation around you!

{ippity} Masculine Card & Gina K.'s Stamp TV

The long story....scroll down if all you want to see is the card and hate reading tales of cardmaking. lol!

I was inspired by a Gina K. Stamp TV episode on Distressed Newsprint to create this card for my father-in-law. I enlisted the help of my husband who followed in the footsteps of his dad to become an engineer. Mitch occasionally brings me old drawings from work, which typically are recycled but find another life in my craft room to cover surfaces for my crafting and Liam's little art projects.

I had Mitch choose a few block of drawings that I could use to experiment with, then choose a final copy. I initially used the Tim Holtz Distress Inks recommended in the video, but Mitch then suggested making it look more like an aged blueprint rather than old newsprint, which ended up being a fabulous idea. I used a series of three blue Memento inks to create the aged blueprint that kind of reminded me of the look of the old ditto carbon copies. Remember those? Rather than making the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment stick out I used black ink to make it look like part of the blueprint. I added a ruler colored with Copics and glazed with glossy accents, then accented the card with a few screw head brads. The base is white and is edged in a light Summer Sky blue shade.

I was in such a hurry to get this card put together I had to finish it in the car on the way to the in-laws. Guess where I had to take the photo....

Supplies
Stamps: A Little Buggy (Ippity), Sew Stylish (Hero Arts),
Father's Day Sentiment (Hero Arts - Father's Day Set)
Ink: Summer Sky, Danube Blue, Paris Sky, Bahama Blue, Tuxedo Black

FWF Father's Day

Yesterday was a much more packed day than I had anticipated.Sorry for the late post! I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day weekend!

It's hard to see in the picture, but I used shimmer white cardstock for the background of the lighthouse and sponged the sky and sandy beach. The windows of the lighthouse are highlighted with glossy accents.  I also love how the distressed stripes background with sponging and tattered twill tape adds to a more masculine look for the card.

Weird update: I now have a lighthouse tat near my left wrist. I have been walking around with it all morning. lol! Must have leaned on the stamp before I cleaned it!

Supplies:
Stamps: Adventures in Happiness (Unity)
Ink: Black, Cantelope, Summer Sky, Tangerine, Angel Pink, Rich Cocoa, Desert Sand
Paper: Bashful Blue, Shimmer White, White Base

Easy Peasy {ippity} Stationary

I am working on creating a small stationary set for my husband's cousin who graduated last weekend. It's always nice to have a few of these things on hand to grab for a quick thank you, birthday or simple note.

I wanted to keep it simple. One bold image w/sentiment, one layer and a little bit o'bling...you know me. ;) I figure that unless you are a cardmaker/scrapbooker you really don't want to have to fiddle with extra postage or special packaging to mail a card. Sweet. Simple. Easy to recreate if she so desires. (I will include directions in the package.)

The package will contain:
  • Listing notepad (College or not...a girl needs to make lists!)
  • Post-It Note Cube (I like having something by the computer for quick notes.)
  • Matching Pen (Adorable...'nuff said.)
  • 20 various occasion cards w/envelopes
Here's what I have finished at this point. For the life of me I cannot find a plain, white note cube. Hit Walmart, Staples and the dollar store with no luck. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.
