OCC Day 4: Back to School Cards

This is all I could muster for day 4, but I am including a process video which will be linked up on the sidebar to the right of this post The video is uploading at present and has been since last evening. Ugh! Hopefully, it will be live soon!

Supplies
Kraft and white cardstocks, Distress Inks: Frayed Burlap, Wid Honey, Fired Brick, Barn door, Peeled Paint, Simon Says Stamp Set ( Lunch Box Notes, Friendship Messages), Hero Arts Stamps (Journal Letters), Simon Says Stamp Dies ( Teacher, Tiny tags), Silhouette Cut (Apple Card 64361)

Just because I thought this would be funny! Not stamps were hurt in the dissecting of this sentiment. The red ink was simply from an old project that never got completely cleaned off. Cut up your sentiments! So easy to put them pack together again!

Life Got in the Way

So...I was planning on posting for Day 3 of the Online Card Classes - Stretch Your Stamps 2 today, but life got in the way. I have been working on and off all day on one card! I know there are many of you who know what I am talking about...just stuff to do!

Here are few photos...one is of a layout I completed a few days ago with products from my most recent Scraptastic Kit, my haircut and an iced latte (simple pleasures) from today and two blankets my family and I completed last weekend to donate to Project Linus. Also posted to the right is a You Tube video of my most recent haul.

Tune in tomorrow and I should have a few things to share! Thanks for visiting!

Massive Scrapbooking/Mixed Media/Cardmaking Destash

I need to downsize! I have way too much to know what I really have and effectively use. I will be uploading a video each day this week destashing TONS of stamps, paper collections and pads, mists, washi tapes, Cricut cartridges and much more.  Here is a video briefly explaining what I am destashing. Please share this with anyone who maybe interested in scoring some great quality scrapbooking/cardmaking/mixed media items. Subscribe to my channel and you will know exactly when I post. Thanks in advance! You have no idea how great it will make me feel to simplify my life! :)

Distress Ink Storage - Inexpensive Walmart Option

With the end of the school year and the beginning of the summer comes my need to reorganize and/or purge everything in the house. As a result of purging and prioritizing supplies in my craft nook, I realized that I didn't have a very good system for storing my distress ink pads. I use them a lot and would like them to be easily accessible. Formerly, they were in a iris cart drawer, which was only convenient BEFORE I attached foams to the back of the pad case (and accumulated more colors!) There is no room on my desk to put all of them. I checked on pinterest for ideas and saw a hanging jewelry storage bag that looked to perfectly fit the distress inks, so off I went to Walmart for milk and that particular storage bag. In the same aisle right below the hanging bags were these great plastic bins. I assume they are for organizing dresser drawers or some such thing. This one caught my eye because I looked the perfect size for distress pads. Each divider can hold up to 18 pads with foams attached. I printed off labels onto sticker paper from Kristina Werner's site, then cut, attached and made color swatches for each label. They are a wee bit crooked because the foams attached to the backs of each. I don't mind storing them vertically because Jennifer McGuire mentioned in her most recent ink storage video that manufacturers don't think that the storage position of the pad changes its effectiveness.  Big bonus for this storage container....if you have a Raskog cart from IKEA the container fits perfectly with space at the bottom of the tray for tools or paper.

Adventures in Watercoloring

So....I signed up for Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers when it started back at the beginning of May. Fast forward (if anyone remembers what that is!) to the past couple of days. My students' last day of school was yesterday. Mine was today. See reasons for progress? lol!

I am hoping to have more to share soon, but here are a couple of cards that I made yesterday and are already out the door on their way to do what cards do...make people feel that someone cares. I used some new goodies from Simon Says Stamp & Altenew as well as some stuff that has been in my stash for awhile.

This was the beginning of the last card. It was a bit of a mess, but I put enough effort into it that someone was going get it!

Supplies
Stamps: You are my Sunshine (SSS),  Ink: Black - Versafine, Dies: You are my Sunshine, Watercolors: Peerless, Paper: Distress Watercolor & Glitz - Gray Paper, Enamel Dot: MME

Supplies
Stamps: Magnolias for Her (Altenew), Friendship Messages (SSS), Ink: Versamark, Paper: Navy, Distress Watercolor, Accessories: Distress Markers, Perfect Pearls, Distress Ink Pad, White Embossing Powder, Platinum Embossing Powder

DIY Mini Ink Blending Tool

I must admit I am a sucker for a few things...a good cup of coffee and crafting supplies. Likewise, I am hooked on Jennifer McGuire's YT channel. (Definitely a guilty pleasure during the day!) If I could afford it, I would be EVERYTHING she shows on her channel. After watching her initial video using Tim Holtz's new Mini Ink Blending Tools I wanted them! However, I was pretty bummed because I had just finished purchasing and attaching the old style blending foams to the bottom of every Distress Ink I own! I knew there had to be a simple way to get what I wanted without spending any extra $$. I searched You Tube and blogs no closer to a solution, so I decided to figure it out myself!

Playing Around with Distress Markers

I'm not really sure why, but I get really excited about a certain medium or product, get it and let it lie for about 6+ months. No joke! I did it with the Cricut DH got me for my birthday several years ago, the Cameo I gifted myself as a graduate school gift (lol!) and now these FABULOUS distress watercolor markers and (and distress inks)! (At present, my Fiskar's Fuse is in que!)

Thanks for visiting!

This was challenging. I created a template of the cross from the embossing folder and lightly traced the cross onto the cardstock, then used the watercolor markers to create the background. After drying the background, I lined up the embossing folder with the watercoloring and ran it through my Cuttlebug. For something a little extra, I dabbed the embossed portion with Versamark and dusted on perfect pearls.
Supplies:Embossing Folder (Darice), Watercolor Markers (Tim Holtz), Pearl Powders (Ranger), Versamark, Watercolor Paper

I created the balloons with stitching in my Silhouette software and cut from watercolor paper. I think the only supply that isn't pictured is Ranger embossing powder in liquid platinum. Simple to create several at a time! These were birthday "thank yous" from my son's birthday party.

Supplies: Watercolor paper, Watercolor Markers (Tim Holtz), stamp (Recollections), liquid platinum embossing powder (Ranger)

Supplies: die cuts (Silhouette - I added stitching.), Distress Inks (Tim Holtz), Glossy Accents, gold embossing powder (Ranger)
