This recipe was given to me by my friend Patty. She made it for my son's baby shower. Loved it! Had to have the recipe. I made some changes as most of us do when we have a recipe. ;) Enjoy! Love to hear your experience and possibly alterations to the recipe.
No Fuss Potato Soup
6 c. diced, peeled potatoes (I used red potatoes and left the skins on...healthier, right?)
5 c. water (Or chicken broth minus the boullion cubes)
2 c. dried, minced onion (I used fresh.)
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1/2 c. carrots, chopped
1/4 c. margarine
3 chicken boullion cubes
12 oz. can of evaporated milk
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded (Subbed colby/jack)
1 T. chili powder (My added touch, optional)
salt, freshed cracked pepper/garlic blend to taste
dried parsley and chives (about 1 T.)
Combine all ingredients except for milk, parsley/chives and cheese in a slow cooker.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 7-8 hours or until veggies are tender. I did mine overnight on LOW, then cranked it up to HIGH for a couple of hours before serving. Probably would have done alright without the extra time on HIGH. (My friend used a programmable crockpot, so it would turn off after the 7-8 hours on HIGH.) The soup will seem VERY runny after the long cooking time. No worries! The cheese will thicken it up. Stir in milk, parsley/chives and cheese.
Serve with a crusty bread. Rosemary is my personal favorite. The more carbs the merrier!

I Got Mail!!!
And it was {ippity} Stamps!!!! I couldn't even decide what to play with first. So much glorious rubber, so little time! I now have everything in stock and ready to ship. As a thank you gift to my first 5 customers, you will receive a few sheets of the exclusive patterned paper selected just for {ippity}! (In addition to FREE SHIPPING!)
Onto a creation for this week...I have been slacking off the last couple of weeks...posting, mainly, not creatively! I was preparing for a couple of craft shows, which definitely kept me occupied! I plan on having some photos of those goodies uploaded, hopefully, this weekend. (Some PTI goodness in those projects!)

Fabulous Friday
Friday Flair is the only thing that has gotten me motivated to stamp lately. Not that I don't want too, but rather that live has been crazy and moving at hyper speed lately. (Not to mention a wee bit of stress.) I am sure everyone knows what I mean.
I wish I could create a card in under two hours...too much tweaking, tearing apart and tossing. Ah well, if I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't do it. :) This card is a direct result of this long process. lol.

Sharing my Flair
Happy Friday again! I'm planning on enjoying mine. No school today! It is Central Ohio Teacher Association (COTA) Day and we have the day off. (Just a comp for Columbus Day, which we didn't have off. ) I was actually out sick Tuesday and Wednesday with a nasty sinus infection and back today. Still not 100%, but hoping I can work my way there over the weekend. :)

Happy World Cardmaking Day!!
I can't believe that I have been doing this now for six years. (I also can't believe I have had three blog posts in three days!) I'm so thankful that I found a way to release, relax and be creative. Being able to give people some personalized is important to me.
Friday night I decided to create a few fun designs with nothing particular in mind. Just using stamps that I haven't had the opportunity to ink up. I think I will make that a challenge for myself for World Cardmaking Day...ink up as many stamps as I can that haven't had he chance to enjoy. I hope you find an inspiration or challenge for today.

It's Friday! It's Friday! with Unity
While you are enjoying your blog hop I'm still at work. :) I do enjoy my job, but wish I could check just a couple blogs to break up the day. I usually don't make it completely through the hop until Sunday. Enjoying it slowly. Have a fabulous Friday!!!
Don't forget about World Cardmaking Day on Saturday! I heard a rumor that Unity has something fun planned.
Also, I'm cleaning out my craft room if you want to see what is available click here. :)

Fluttering Friday Flair
I finally finished my card for Unity's Friday Flair. (I still need to get caught up with comments from the blogs last Friday!) We have been putting in a hardwood floor in our dining room and kitchen, then moving on into the living room not to mention a fresh new school year. With that being said, I have been doing other things lately and procrastination was on the top of my list for stamping projects.
This card was inspired by SCS's clean and simple (making a card "pop" with dimensionals) and color (Olive, Eggplant and Black) challenges. I also got my new Cuttlebug embossing folders that I preordered a few months back. What a treat to get in the mail!!!
Check out Angela's blog to get the full list of Friday Flair participants! Unity Stamp Company Rocks!!!

Some Unity HHH Sweetness
I love strawberries! Love the taste, the smell, the image...I can't resist a good strawberry image, thus I had to use this stamp from the Unity August In-store KOTM. I couldn't help after uploading this card adding shimmer mist all over the strawberries.

I didn't know really what I was doing with this one. I wanted to play around with my Tattered Angels colored glimmer mist, so I did. The jury is out on this one. It was fun to create and I learned a few things, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. Experimentation is never a waste.

Love Beyond Measure
I have been waiting to use this paper and charm since about June, then this fabulous Unity kit came along with the perfect stamp! I am so glad that I went with my gut and didn't eBay my Riding Hood Red pad and cardstock. I knew it would be a keeper. I have a whole pack that will be great for Christmas cards, too.
The details are tough to see in the photo. Should have added more contrast. Just click on the photo to enlarge.
Have a great Thursday!

So Excited!
Happy Hip Hop Hangover!!!
To be back creating again. I haven't really thrown myself into it fully quite yet, because I am also working on cleaning everything up from grad school chaos and repacking for vacation.
I have been dying to use this Basic Grey DP for something. I actually mounted the DP to kraft over a month ago and have been deliberating what to do ever since. One of Jeanne's challenges for Hip Hop was to "stamp and go". Meaning stamp a line art stamp and do nothing else...no paper piecing (my fave), coloring or embellishing. So, here are a couple cute birds from Unity's July KOM.
After getting home from grad school, I had about three Unity sets waiting for me and an SU order. I had ordered a set of Sizzix dies one of which I used in the upper right hand corner of this one.
Supplies
Stamps: Unity July KOM
Ink: Black
Paper: June Bug (Basic Grey), Kraft
Accessories: Pink and Vanilla Satin Ribbon

Perfect Pair Wedding Card
Happy Hip Hop Hangover! Probably my last for a month or so. Grad school starts on Monday and I have to keep my mind in the game!
I created this fun non-traditional wedding card for Mitch's friend Jon (and my Fish Wrangler crew mate) and his new wife Jeanette (Welcome to the group, girl!). They are having a wedding reception on Sunday and this will be their card from us.
All of the pears and bird are paper pieced from Basic Grey DP. All but the bird are glazed with glossy accents to add dimension.

Love is Everything
How often I forget that and let myself get carried away with daily tasks, my hobby and other things going on in life. I made this card for Mitch for Father's Day as an affirmation that I need to make more time for "us". I helped Liam make a little card card for daddy with some self-adhesive foam shapes and crayons. He had fun making it!

Lake Hope 2009
What a great time we had this year at the 5th Annual Lake Hope weekend!!! Friends, food (I am pretty sure there are pics somewhere of a large pork tenderloin and deep fried turkey along with 30 ears of corn for our Saturday night meal.), nature and great conversation were abundant as usual. This year our hostess, my best friend Patty, made arrangements at Laurel Lodge instead of at indiviual cabins for our large group. We loved it! The consensus was to make those arrangements again for next summer.
The guys were there early on Friday fishing as well as early Saturday AM. Mitch and I decided to do the mountain bike trails. What an experience. To say the least...the map was a bit of a disappointment. One of the trails turned into a creek, which then turned into a swamp. Not to mention the trail was a bit muddy from rain earlier in the week. We were a muddy, wet mess by the time we got back. Luckily, we ran into Julie and Gary and hitched a ride back from the boat docks. I don't think I would have been able to do the steep road work after the 3.5 mile excursion in the forest. (I need to get the picture of Mitch and I after our ride uploaded from my camera.)
Here is a picture of my friend Patty and I. Good times. Good friends. Good food. What more could you ask for? Looking forward to next year!

Hip Hop Hangover
Ok, here it is. I used Jeanne's Limited Supply Challenge today, which was to create a simple one layer card using the base as the one layer. I finally got to use one of my favorite Unity Stamp images. I also used Gina K.'s Stamp TV sky background technique (hard to see) and some shimmer mist on the background as well.

Ink: Riding Hood Red, Memento Black
Paper: Gina K. White, Riding Hood Red, Black
Accessories: Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Gemstones (Hero Arts), Black Satin Ribbon, Sakura Black Souffle Pen, Tattered Angels Shimmer Mist in Pearl
I was inspired by a beach towel I saw with these colors. I added Sahara Sand as a background because I usually see beach towels in the sand on the beach. lol! The shell was colored with copics and spiced up with some shimmer mist and liquid pearls. I uploaded both photos because one had a better angle and the other better lighting. I love using natural light and it was fading after I got a great suggestion from a friend for a photo option.

Unity July KOTM Guest Designer Challenge
I figure that I have nothing to lose and will have a few extra cards in my stash to give to family and friends as a result of this challenge. Not to mention, a position on the Unity design team would be completely amazing. There are others that deserve it much more than myself, so I am happy to use this as an opportunity to grow.
I have been creating like crazy today. Some definitely better than others as it is with any group of cards. The challenge is to use either the Unity April or May KOTM to create a monochromatic project with an extra challenge using yellow, specifically.
I was so excited to use the sewing machine my MIL has "let me borrow" until I started working on my last card and it decided to continually break thread and spit out wonky stitches. Needless to say, that card will not be posted. :( It was such a cool idea, too! Luckily, I was able to stitch most of my other cards before the malfunction conundrum began.

VSN Challenges - Repost
Well, I haven't done this in awhile! I was around when VSN first started up and I think it has been a couple of years since I last participated. I had major trouble getting these uploaded by the deadline due to SCS having some glitches. Speaking of glitches this card was deleted from SCS for some reason sometimes after the cards were judged, thus this is a repost.
The two challenges I participated in were "card buffet" (food-themed) and "glam and glitter" (glittering entire panels or imagines in glitter <------- my expertise!). I'm sure yo u can figure out which is which. ;) Supplies Stamps: Tier of Treats (Stampendous), Fancy Flexible Phrases (SU) Ink: Memento Black Paper: Riding Hood Red, Kraft, White Accessories: Copics, Glossy Accents, Ribbon, Liquid Applique, Cuttlebig Embossing Folder, Martha Stewart Border Punch

Lots of Buttons
I have always wondered what I was going to do with all of these buttons that I just had to have. Well, this card was the remedy for someone with too many buttons and having no clue what to do with all of them. This card was the combination of two challenges on SCS...Limited Supply (Patterned Paper) & Way to Use It (Buttons). Everything is patterned paper except for the card base, which is, of course, kraft cardstock. 6/4/09: Unity SCS Challenge Winner

Got home early today as it was our last day of school and made this while Liam was still napping. The challenge was to make a card with knots. The tails of the kites are ribbons with several knots tied into them. Fun challenge! Hip Hop! I'm off to stamp club!

Another Atypical Color Combo
As I had mentioned in a forum recently oranges and yellows are NOT my thing, so I thought the SCS color challenge for this week was a perfect opportunity to practice getting better with them. (Colors = Bashful Blue, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie)
I know. I went a little nuts with the Cuttlebug and...well...everything. I'm ok with it!
Enjoy a beautiful day where ever you are! We have been having hit and miss showers, but mostly sunny and warm.
The second card is the CAS 16 (Clean and Simple) Challenge at SCS as well. The challenge is to redue an old card. I choose this one.

Clean and Simple Challenge
The SCS clean and simple challenge was to create at black and white card and add only one additional bold/bright color. I choose Pixie Pink and used it to highlight the flowers and heart on the birdcage, then used Glossy Accents over the colored areas. Fun challenge. I had to get the creative juices flowing for graduation and Father's Day cards...craft fair next weekend. I need to get on it!

Celebrate!
My cousin Kimberly graduated yesterday from nursing school. We weren't able to attend due to my fab sinus infection. Bad.
